The National Auto Sport Association (NASA)
is pleased to announce that it will pay over $10,000.00 in prize money and other awards to the top finishing drivers in its Spec Miata Challenge series. This award was made possible by the generous assistance of Mazda, which has been a strong supporter of NASAs grassroots racing programs for many years. NASA created the Pro-7 class in 1995, which cemented Mazda as a premier manufacturer in grassroots racing and laid the groundwork for the creation of this Pro-level series for the Miata that will continue that reputation well into to the future. NASAs Spec Miata Challenge Series is the perfect place for a driver to compete in a professional level series governed by a consistent set of rules without having to spend a fortune. The following winning drivers are recognized for their accomplishments and will share in the $10,000.00 purse.
1st- Barry Hartzel
2nd- Jack Arluck
3rd- Paul Barham
4th- Gary Porter
5th- Andrew Fernandez
6th- Steve Fidler
7th- James Tilley
8th- Alan Leukhardt
The winners will appear on a NASA winner page in Grassroots Motorsports
magazine in an upcoming 2003 issue. NASA plans to continue the Spec Miata
Challenge series next year with continued rewards for the top drivers in the
series in order to further promote the series and entice new drivers into
the field. It pays to race a Spec Miata with NASA, said Jerry Kunzman
NASAs Executive Director, These guys got to have fun and get something
back to help out with their racing budgets. Further information the Spec Miata
Challenge can be located at www.specmiatachallenge.com.
