Group H Qualifying Race 1, 4:55 p.m. (25 minute race)
Charles Buzzetti won the first qualifying race of GTS1 in his Porsche 924s sponsored by John Milledge Engineering. Charles set the fast lap of the race with a 2:17.568. In second spot in GTS1 was Scott Bove driving his number 124 Porsche 944 sponsored by Autobahn Premier Service. The third place went to John Niedernhofer driving his number 78 Porsche 944.
Ten cars showed up to compete in GTS2 and three different German manufacturers landed on the podium. Vali Predescu won the first qualifying race in his Porsche Boxter, sponsored by Euromastercars, by setting the fastest lap with a 2:15.644. Grabbing second place was Robert Maples, sponsored by Vetlink of Parker, driving his Audi A4 Quattro. The final podium spot in GTS2 for the first qualifying race went to Ian Cole, sponsored by Autobahn Premier Service, driving a Volkswagen GTI.
The first qualifying race for GTS3 ended with Jay Matus crushing the competition by four seconds a lap in his Porsche 996 sponsored by Viking Extreme Motorsports. In second spot was Dan Goodman driving the number 56 BMW M3 sponsored by BimmerHaus and Hoosier Tires. Third went to Gregory Dalgam driving the number 631 BMW M3 sponsored by Ultimate Auto Works.
Jeff Amos won the first qualifying race in GTS4 by setting the fastest lap of the class (2:07.456) in his Porsche GT3 sponsored by T-Mobile, Hoosier Tires, Hawk Brakes, and Forgeline. Second spot in GTS4 went to Bill Woods driving the number 95 Porsche 911 sponsored by Soul Speed, TPWS and Ceiling Tech. The final podium spot was earned by lady racer Alexandra Sabados driving a vintage 1974 Porsche 911 RSR, sponsored by Frenetic Racing.
GTS5 had four competitors on grid for their first qualifying race for the 2010 NASA National Championships presented by Toyo Tires. Gilbert Gale put down a wicked fast lap time of 2:01.872 and won the race driving his Porsche 911 GT3. In second place was Ricky “Boo-Boo” Johnson, sponsored by Race Technik, also driving a Porsche 911 GT3. The third and final podium spot in GTS5 went to David Leyvas, in his number 10 Porsche 997, sponsored by Diversified.
Two separate qualifying races (one Thursday and one Friday) will determine grid positions for NASA National Championship races, Saturday and Sunday, September 18-19, 2010, at
